About the LTC

The idea to form a technology council for the New Orleans area began in the early 1990’s. The founders felt that a strategy to build a technology component for the New Orleans economy was important and necessary in moving the region into the 21st Century. As a result, the Louisiana Technology Council (LTC) originally known as the New Orleans Technology Council (NOTC) was created in early 1994. Several major organizations along with the University of New Orleans and the City of New Orleans were among the founders of the NOTC.

The LTC was launched with funds from the City of New Orleans but since its second year of existence, the LTC has not received any outside funds from any other organization. All investments into the LTC are derived from membership, sponsorship of events and the events themselves. In late 2002, Mark S. Lewis, an LTC Board of Directors member, became President and began a new era by focusing on providing members with value for their membership and sponsorship investments. Several new initiatives were implemented including the creation of numerous Special Interest Groups (SIG’s), the implementation of Homeland Security Forums, expanded Tech Tuesday events, eWARDS, a membership directory, and more. Also key to the tremendous growth of the LTC is the desire to form key partnerships with the City of New Orleans, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Greater New Orleans Inc., local universities and other tech councils across the state.
