Tech Assist LA

The LTC created the program called TechAssistLA in late 2007. Clients completed online applications and received one-on-one consulting. Once a client had a marketing plan ready to go, they were reviewed by a committee of small businesses made up of LTC members, who would then assign the work to a corresponding member company. A majority of the work was aimed at website development, search engine optimization, network connectivity and security. Many clients reported improvement in sales and inquiries due to web development.

Seminars were also a significant component of the program, focusing on marketing issues related to web development, search engines and social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

As a program of the LTC, TechAssistLA provided assistance to over 200 businesses, non-profits and start-ups. More than $400,000 was provided to assist in this Hurricane Katrina / Rita business recovery program. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Community Development Block Grants provided the funding which has been managed by Louisiana Economic Development.

As of November 30, 2009 the funding has been depleted. We continue to apply for additional funds for this special program. Anyone who has signed up for TechAssistLA will be notified if the program is continued. Thanks to all our participants and member companies for their support!
